It is another proud moment for India and the state of Telangana. About 1 million (10 lakh) saplings have been planted within an hour. By contributing to the Green India Challenge, Telangana set a world record of 1 million Saplings Planted in an hour.
It became the largest drive of plantation ever held anywhere across the globe. Hence, setting the new world record.
The event took place in Adilabad by J Santosh Kumar, the MP of Telangana Rashtra Samiti Rajya Sabha. The record is ready to enter in the Guinness Book of World Records. It will break the previous record that was saplings of 3.03 lakh took place in Turkey.
Many people participated in the world’s largest plantation drive including more than thirty thousand TRS members and local people. Apart from that, A Indra Karan Reddy, the forest and environment minister of Telangana, celebrated his birth anniversary by participating in this plantation drive.
The Miyawaki model was used to plant around 5 lakh Saplings Planted in the degraded forest area that is more than 200 acres. In the Miyawaki method, 2-4 plants are planted per square meter. The model used in Miyawaki forest was successful as it made the forest self-sustaining. The forest also grows in 2-3 years. Planting many trees helped bring the temperature down in the concrete islands. Also, it helps in reducing noise pollution and attracts more birds and sects.
The pandemic has made people realize the value of nature and the environment. So, it is important to safeguard the forest to save the environment, said TRS MP Santosh Kumar.
Before the Saplings Planted drive, Santosh Kumar appealed to everyone to bring success from this event. He said the survival of humans is dependent on Mother Nature. Immense damage has been caused to Mother Nature by corona that made us realize the importance of conserving resources. He asked everyone to take part in the Green India Challenge by joining hands together in planting the saplings. He also asked people to nominate three other people further. Green India Challenge was initiated four years ago to improve the green cover.
