Jasprit Bumrah opens up after getting knocked out of T20 World Cup. The Indian pace star wrote on Twitter, “I’m very disappointed that I won’t be able to be in the T20 World Cup this time. But the way everyone has wished and stayed by my side, I’m grateful to everyone. My fight to recover will continue. And in the meantime, I’ll be cheering for the team’s campaign in Australia.“
Bumrah’s disappointing condition
Bumrah has been ruled out of the World Cup due to a back injury. He could not play in the Asia Cup before this. He made a comeback in the series against Australia at home but was left out of the team again due to injury. He was kept in the team for the current T20 series against South Africa but could not play. On behalf of the Indian Cricket Board, President Sourav Gangopadhyay said that he is not giving up hope on Bumrah’s World Cup game. Coach Rahul Dravid made similar comments.
But everyone inside understood that it would be difficult for Bumrah to catch the flight to Australia. In the end, the board announced on Monday that Bumrah is not going to the World Cup.
The question that Indian sports lovers are waiting for is, who will go to the World Cup instead of Bumrah?
There was a storm of controversy about not keeping him in the World Cup. It is Mohammed Shami that the Indian selectors and the team management committee should now look to. Shami’s name is number one as a possible alternative. Who was not included in the World Cup squad and was put on standby?
There is no doubt that Bumrah’s dismissal is a big shock. There is also the question of whether anyone can make up for his lack. On top of that, even if Shami is taken as a substitute, the odd attitude of the selectors and the team management committee towards him may be worth the price. Shami was ignored by the selectors even though he bowled at a fast pace in the IPL. It is natural to shock his confidence. He did not get a place in the announced team for the T20 World Cup.
Shami’s stance
He was called up for the home series against Australia and South Africa but could not play due to Covid. So even if he goes to Australia, Shami will have to go quite unprepared. If Shami enters the World Cup team, Mohammed Siraj can be on standby. Who has replaced Bumrah in the current South Africa series? It is heard that the standby cricketers can also go to the World Cup with the team as the Covid is not completely gone yet.
Hardik Pandya again sent a special message for teammate Bumrah. Bumrah’s exclusion from the World Cup is a big shock, but the future of the pace star has also been questioned. Hardik wrote on Twitter, “My Jasis, come back soon, as you have always done.”
