Sehgal Allowed to Take Delhi

ED will bring Anubrata Mandal’s bodyguard Sehgal Hossain to Delhi and keep them in their custody for questioning in the cow smuggling case. Yesterday, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court agreed to the ED’s plea in this regard. The Rouse Avenue Court directed the Asansol Jail Superintendent to produce Sehgal before the court. After that, Sehgal’s lawyers filed a case in the Delhi High Court challenging the verdict of Rouse Avenue Court.

Application to be made today

On Tuesday morning, an application will be made for an urgent hearing seeking an interim stay on this verdict. Besides, Sehgal’s lawyers are also sending a notice to the ED. Until the Delhi High Court takes a final decision, Sehgal should not be brought to Delhi from the Asansol penitentiary, the notice said.

If Sehgal is interrogated by ED in Delhi, the problem of Anubrata will increase further, informed sources believe. Because the ED told the Delhi court yesterday that they have evidence of illegal transactions worth crores of rupees in cow smuggling. CBI had earlier arrested Sehgal in the cow smuggling case and told the court that despite serving as a constable of the state police, his wealth has swelled since he was given the responsibility of Anubrata’s bodyguard. The amount of which is at least 100 crore rupees.

Condition of Sehgal

Right now, Sehgal is in Asansol Correctional Facility. ED went there to investigate and interrogated Sehgal. Alleging non-cooperation in the investigation during the interrogation, the ED moved the Asansol court to take Sehgal into their custody. But the court dismissed the plea. The ED then approached the Calcutta High Court. The application was rejected there too. Then the ED approached the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi.

Sehgal’s lawyer Manu Sharma argued in the Delhi court yesterday that the ED’s plea was not allowed by the Asansol district court. The Calcutta High Court also rejected it. The High Court told the ED, they have to approach the Asansol District Court. The district court will decide on this. ED has become very active and appeared in Delhi. On the other hand, lawyer Nikesh Rana, appearing for the ED, said that the CBI had first filed the FIR in the corruption case.

Wrapping up

Later, when it was found that there was an illegal transaction of crores of rupees in cow smuggling, the ED filed a case and started an investigation. Sehgal was interrogated in Asansol Jail but did not cooperate. So, it is necessary to take him to the custody of the ED and interrogate him. Because evidence of illegal financial transactions has been found. The main cause of ED in the investigation of cow smuggling has been filed in Delhi. Therefore, the Court of Delhi has the right to order in this regard. After hearing the arguments of the two sides, special CBI court judge Raghuveer Singh agreed to the ED’s plea. According to ED sources, CBI has found flats in various places including New Town, Bolpur, multiple dumpers, stone crushers, petrol pumps, and about 200 bighas of land in Sehgal’s property list.
