As soon as the AAP government came to power in Punjab, it announced to lift the police security of 424 people. Among them was Sidhu Moosewala, a Punjabi singer and Congress leader. The 28-year-old was shot dead by assassins in Punjab’s Mansa district on Sunday. Though Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann tweeted that the culprits would not be spared, some sections of the opposition alleged that the Punjab government was playing with security for getting cheap publicity. Punjab police claimed that Lawrence Bishnoi was the mastermind behind the murder. Satinder Singh alias Goldy Brar, another gangster close to Lawrence in Canada and plotted the whole murder. Goldy also took responsibility for the murder on Facebook. Although the authenticity of that Facebook post could not be verified.
SingerSidhu’s original home is in the village of Moose in Punjab. Fans knew him as ‘Sidhu Moosewala’. On Sunday, he was driving a SUV i.e Mahindra Thar with his two friends. According to police sources, miscreants who had brought three vehicles near Jawaharke village in Mansa district blocked the path of Sidhu’s vehicle and fired about 30 rounds. Sidhu took at least eight shots. He was pronounced dead when the three victims were taken to the hospital. The condition of his friends is alarming. No arrests have been made till date.
According to police sources, a man named Vicky Middukhera was killed last year due to a feud between two miscreant groups. The suspects claimed that Sidhu’s manager was involved in the incident. Questions also arose about the role of Sidhu in the incident. This person named Vicky was close to Lawrence Bishnoi. Police believe Lawrence’s men killed Sidhu on Sunday in retaliation for Vicky’s murder. Goldy currently manages the role of director of the whole operation in Canada. With the help of Lawrence from Canada, he runs a vicious cycle with terrible miscreants across Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana.
Sidhu joined the Congress last December. In the Assembly, he contested on a Congress ticket from the Mansa Center and lost to Vijay Singla of AAP. After coming to power, the AAP government announced to withdraw the security of 424 people including Sidhu on the pretext of stopping the VIP culture in the state. Two of his bodyguards were removed on Saturday. On Sunday, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot tweeted, “It is very wrong to play with the security for publicity.” Former Delhi BJP MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa has demanded an inquiry of the Union Home Ministry into how the secret list of those whose security is being taken away by the government came to light. Punjab Pradesh Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring has demanded the dismissal of the state government. In the words of National Conference leader Omar Abdullah, “Security should be provided by assessing the risks, not on the basis of personal preferences.” On Sunday, Punjab Police DG VK Bhawra said, “Four police commandos were handed over to Moosewala. Two of them were removed. But he did not keep the other two with him that day. He was driving an ordinary vehicle instead of his own bulletproof vehicle. A Special Investigating Team (SIT) has been formed according to the instruction of the chief minister.“
