Singer KK Breathes His Last After Kolkata Concert

The famous Indian singer, KK, took ill while performing in Kolkata at an event. He was 53 years old and has his wife, a daughter and a son in the family. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi, famous Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar and tons of other prominent celebrities mourned his demise.

Singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, who was known popularly as KK, breathed his last on Tuesday night. He was in the middle of performing at an event. Later he was declared dead at the CMRI hospital after he was sent there due to sudden illness.

Till 8:30 p.m., he performed at the reputable Nazrul Mancha auditorium. He returned to the hotel as he suddenly started feeling unwell. He was taken to the hospital in an urgent basis as his condition became deteriorated.

KK had performed consecutive shows in Kolkata for the last 2 days. His family was contacted soon after the incident and they have arrive in Kolkata today morning.

Celebrities including Armaan Malik, Akshay Kumar, Rahul Vaidya, Harshdeep Kaur, Munmun Dutta, Dia Mirza, Farah Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Sonu Nigam, Vishal Dadlani, Anupam Kher, Arjun Rampal, Shekhar Ravjiani, R Madhavan, Neeti Mohan, Kamal Hassan, Ankit Tiwari, Gurmeet Choudhary and many others expressed their condolences on twitter and referred to 2022 as one black year in Indian music.

It is suspected that the singer suffered from cardiac arrest. According to some people who attended his concert on Tuesday, the indoor of the auditorium of Nazrul Mancha was overcrowded & the air-conditioning was also not working properly. KK was seen sweating tremendously as he felt the heat on the stage. He had even told organisers present there to dim all the spotlights upon him. It is also said that he complained to those organisers as there was excessive crowding around his stage.

A video of KK wiping his face using a hand towel at the venue while the fans around him complained unanimously about the uncomfortable condition in there, had been shared on social media platforms. A voice is heard in the video that said off-camera that it was too hot. KK was seemingly gesturing to a man to ask about the ventilation.

According to sources, he felt heavy after reaching the hotel. He was cold when the air condition of his car was switched on. He even took a break in the middle of the performance. Soon he collapsed as he reached the hotel. A doctor at the hospital said that KK was brought there at around 10 p.m. It was unfortunate that they did not even get enough time to treat and save him. According to reports, his event had huge crowd to control and the police had to use fire extinguishers for that. A post-mortem is likely to be conducted today in Kolkata’s SSKM hospital to ascertain the reason of his death.

Condoling the demise, Modi said that KK will be always remembered through his songs. He also commented that his songs struck chords with people of different age groups.
