Record Turnout in DU UG Admission 2024-25

The University of Delhi has published the first cutoff list for admission to various colleges in the first-year undergraduate program for the academic session 2024-2025. This year, there was a record-breaking turnout with more than 5.6 million different combinations of ranks and cutoffs being taken into consideration for just over 250000 students for only 71500 available seats.

Out of the 4,96,327 registrations in the first CSAS round, 97,387 candidates got allotments in their desired programs and colleges, depending on their CUET scores. This is comprised of 52,838 girl children, 44,549 boy children, 243 orphaned children, and 1,339 single girl children. The program with the most allocations was BCom (Hons), which had 10,096 allocations made for it.

New Dashboard Features Introduced

During this admission cycle, it was possible to implement a new candidate dashboard feature that enabled applicants to access cutoff and rank information by category and quota. For each applied program, users can now view the general ranking, the cutoff ranking, the CUET score, and the categorized cutoff score. Admission to the respective courses will be solely made from the common rank list.

Revised Tie-Breaker Rules

This year, the tie-breakers come into the picture as there are many students getting the same CUET scores. Candidates with the same CUET marks may receive different ranks based on the below criteria:

  • Higher percentage in Best three subjects of Class 12
  • If still tied, the higher percentage in the Best four subjects of Class 12.
  • If required, the higher percentage in the Best five subjects of Class 10
  • Older candidate gets preference
  • Alphabetical order of names

The following tie-breakers will not be relevant for performance-oriented subjects such as Music, Physical Education, Fine Arts, etc.

Seat Filling Optimization

To ensure that as many seats as possible are filled in the first round itself, Delhi University has reserved more than the total sanctioned 71,600 seats. The academic session will begin on August 29, 2024.

Subsequent Measures for the List of Candidates

The 97,387 candidates who have received allocations in the first CSAS list should:

  • They need to log in to their dashboard to accept the seat by August 18.
  • Complete your admission fee payment before August 21

In the first round, all entrants will qualify for upgrade options, but only those who will pay the fee will be considered in the following rounds. Candidates are asked to refer to the official Delhi University admission site for more details. This year, it can be observed that the university has received a record number of applications for undergraduate programs. This trend is expected to remain the same in the coming years as well due to higher awareness of CUET and college preparations.
