Rahul Gandhi in Active Participation to Make Confidants Win

Rahul Gandhi himself came down on the field after returning from foreign land to ensure that they, the confidants of the Gandhi family, could win the Rajya Sabha elections without any hindrance.

In Rajasthan, Haryana and Maharashtra, the Congress has decided to appoint senior party leaders as observers in the Rajya Sabha elections. Sources said that Rahul had spoken to outraged Congress MLA Kuldeep Bishnoi on the phone. Two days ago, Kuldeep had indicated that he would not vote for the Congress candidate. In that case, it will be difficult to make Rahul’s trusted Ajay Maken win from Haryana in the Rajya Sabha. Kuldeep was upset that he was not made the president of Haryana Provincial Congress. Congress leaders are hoping Kuldeep to meet Rahul soon after the phone call yesterday.

Apart from Maken from Haryana, Congress has fielded Randeep Singh Surjewala, Pramod Tiwari and Mukul Wasnik from Rajasthan. Randeep is Rahul’s confidant. Pramod is a confidant of Priyanka and Mukul of Sonia.

But to win the three, the Congress will have to rely on its own MLAs as well as other BJP opposition and non-party MLAs. The BJP wants to sway that vote by supporting Subhas Chandra as an independent candidate. Rahul returned from abroad last night. Yesterday afternoon, he went to the war room of the Congress on Gurudwara Rakabganj Road and held a meeting with the senior leaders of the party. Apart from preparations for the ‘Bharat Jodo’ journey from Gandhi Jayanti from Kashmir to Kanyakumari as per the earlier plan, the Rajya Sabha elections were also discussing there.

Soon after, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Himachal Acting Chief Minister Rajiv Shukla were given the responsibility of overseeing the Rajya Sabha elections in Haryana. Former Union Minister, Congress Treasurer Pawan Bansal and Chhattisgarh Health Minister T. S. Singh Deo are being made responsible for monitoring in Rajasthan. Mallikarjun Kharge has been given charge of Maharashtra. Because in Maharashtra too, the BJP is trying to block the Shiv Sena’s Rajya Sabha candidate, a Congress ally.

It is important that the extra votes in the hands of the Congress go to the Shiv Sena. The BJP has already appointed central government ministers as observers in all these states. Congress leaders want to see Rahul Gandhi active in this way. Rahul has been asked to take charge as the party president at the Delhi Provincial Congress ‘Nav Sankalp Shivir’ yesterday. The proposal says that only Rahul can strengthen the party in the face of challenges in front of the Congress.

The Congress MLAs from Rajasthan had already been shifted from Jaipur to Udaipur to curb the BJP’s horse trade. The Haryana MLAs has been sent to Raipur in Chhattisgarh.

After winning the BSP ticket, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot arrived in Udaipur yesterday with six MLAs who had joined the Congress. The BSP has directed these MLAs to vote for the BJP-backed independent candidate. Sachin Pilot’s argument in Delhi is that those 6 people are now Congress MLAs. Everyone will vote for the Congress candidates.
