Fire On The Set Of Ranbir-Shraddha’s Film In Mumbai

The shooting was supposed to start on July 30. Therefore, the work of lighting on the set started from the afternoon of the previous day. A fire broke out on the sets of Bollywood stars Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor around 4:30 pm on July 29. Due to which a 32-year-old man named Manish Devasi died. Several members of the film unit were present at the spot at that time to arrange the sets. Manish is believed to be one of them.

The venue was Chitrakoot Ground in Andheri West, a suburb of Mumbai. Next to Andheri Sports Complex. Smoke could be seen billowing out from there. Initially, it was thought that the fire broke out in the sports complex. The source of the fire was later determined to be a film set. The set of director Luv Ranjan’s next film was built in Chitrakoot grounds. The shooting of another film of Rajshree Production was going on next door. Sunny Deol’s younger son Rajbir was also shooting there. The shoot of Rajshree Productions film was stopped after getting the news of a fire on the adjacent set. The actors and the rest of the unit were also sent home hastily.

Three fire engines went to the spot after getting the information about the fire. The fire was brought under control after about 5 hours. Manish died at night. Federation of Western India Cine Employees General Secretary Ashok Dubey said the sets of two production houses were gutted in the fire. He also said that the sets of Luv Ranjan’s film were heavily stocked with wood and other props, from which the fire spread faster. Dubey alleged that a set built by the construction company that built the set caught fire last year as well. According to him, the instructions given by the municipality in making film sets are often not followed properly. And that is why such disasters happen again and again.

Film producer Boney Kapoor is associated with Luv Ranjan’s film. He told the media that at that time other members of the unit were present on the set for lighting work. But he does not know the real cause of the fire. Even on the 30th, the fire department could not say anything clearly about the source of the fire. However, they said, the fire first broke out in a temporary pavilion. The set was stocked with so many inflammable materials that the fire spread quickly.

After this accident on 29th, the name of Mother India and The Sword of Tipu Sultan came back to the mind of many. Sunil Dutt saved Nargis from fire during the shooting of Mother India. Later Sunil-Nargis got married on that basis. In 1989, 42 people died in a fire on the sets of the serial Tipu Sultan. Actor-director Sanjay Khan was also injured. Apart from this, several sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s films have caught fire in the past.
