Delhi And Haryana Gets Another Hit By The Cold Waves

According to the web desk of India Today, the Meteorological Department of India has issued a warning to different states across the north of India about another lash of cold waves. Manali in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir are having snowfalls which are attracting many tourists. As the temperatures started to dip further below in Delhi, the authorities have started making more shelter homes. It is being said that from Saturday, the temperatures shall be further low in Delhi.

The Government Of Haryana Extends The Winter Holidays For Schools

This Friday, the government of Haryana extended the winter holidays for schools till the twenty-first of January owing to the severe cold weather conditions. In a notice, it has stated that every government and private school is to be kept closed till the twenty-first of January as winter holidays. So, the schools that were supposed to begin on the sixteenth of January shall now open on the twenty-first. However, the notice states that classes are on for classes ten and twelve who are preparing for their board examinations.

Delhi Gets A Little Relief For A Day

On Friday in Delhi, the skies have been partly clouded and the temperature was at 21. 5° Celsius, which was above the normal. According to the IMD forecast, skies are going to remain cloudy in Delhi on Saturday with a moderate level of fog during the morning. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to remain between eight to twenty degrees Celsius. The weather department has alerted the residents of Delhi about a new round of cold waves that are going to settle in Delhi from Sunday onwards. This cold wave shall dip the mercury further below by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius.

The strong surface winds which were caused by the western disturbances have improved the condition of fog in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Western Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. Yet, there is still very dense fog in Bihar and Eastern Uttar Pradesh. Earlier in this morning on Saturday, the Palam observatory in Delhi has shown an increase in the temperature in Delhi by four degrees. The minimum temperature has been around eleven degrees Celsius with five-hundred-meter visibility.

After A Snowfall In Shimla, Tourists Flock

After the snowfalls, more tourists have gone to Shimla, and about ten to fifteen percent of hotels in Shimla and around the suburbs have got filled already. But soon after the snowfall, there were rain and hard cold winds that dampened the spirits of the tourists. Even across the lower hilly regions, there were rains day long. In Kullu’s Kothi, there have been fourteen centimeters of snowfall. In the capital town, Jakhu hill had been covered by snow. Here too has been intermittent rains day long.

Across a few different parts of Shimla, there has been mild snowfall. In some places, transformers and road traffic was disrupted due to the snowfall. The Meteorological station has warned the localities about the snowfalls that are going to occur intermittently followed by rains, dense fog, and cold winds till the last week of January.
