There are several people among us who are aspiring to be UPSC achievers. However, very few actually accomplish this feat. Animesh Pradhan has been able to achieve this feat. He secured the second rank in UPSC in his first attempt in the entire country.
In a recent interaction with the media, he divulged some elements that helped him accomplish this feat. So, in this article, we will look at some of those elements. These elements can help an aspirant in successfully clearing the UPSC examination.
First of all, he admitted that it was difficult for him to clear the exam in the beginning. He was, at times, doubtful about his chances of success. He even said that after completing the prelims examination when he came out of the exam hall. He was not sure about his chances. However, after seeing the results, he prepared for the main examination for 3 months completely.
During the preparation, he said that it was important to focus on the previous year’s question papers. He also said that during the preparation it is vital to make notes and revise them thoroughly again and again.
Along with all this, he emphasized that it is important to have an interest in the optional subject. In his case, he revealed that he had an interest in sociology, in spite of being from a computer science background. As a result, he thoroughly studied the sociology subject and was able to clear the examination successfully.
He also revealed that for practice in terms of answering the questions he was obedient and regular for 11 months. He said that every Sunday he practiced answering the questions, which helped him answer accurately in the exam.
He also revealed that being a working aspirant was another challenge for his goal. He said that he was able to devote only 5 to 6 hours per day on weekdays. He also managed 8 to 10 hours on weekends. He also said that it is vital for the aspirants to focus on the quality of hard work they are doing in their studies. It is pivotal to focus on the studies with complete focus and devotion.
In terms of the interview rounds, he even revealed that it was very comfortable for him. He said that the interviewers were very cooperative with him. He further added that he was thorough with his background, educational qualifications, places where he had been, and also current affairs.
He also revealed that it is essential to have a clear intent while attempting the examination. It enhances the chances of success in the UPSC examination for all the aspirants.
Before all this, he completed his 12th from DAV public school in Talcher, Odisha. Later on, he joined NIT Rourkela and completed his B.Tech in computer science. After his education, he joined Hindustan Petroleum.
He also said that his success is because of the hard work of his parents. He said it was their dream to see him as an IAS officer. He especially mentioned that his mother was suffering from breast cancer and had to suffer a lot to help him achieve his goals.
